Is Sarah Palin Rapture Ready?

Don't miss PTET's full SARAH PALIN coverage & rapture news!

Apparently one in four Americans though it was at least "somewhat likely" that Jesus would return to Earth in 2007. Unless I missed something, there's got to be a lot of disappointed people out there. Maybe next year?

In that vein, I wondered what God's own candidate for Vice President, Sarah Palin, thought of the matter. After all, if people are going to vote for her, it would be nice to know whether she'd intend sticking around for a whole four year term, or if she might vanish up at any moment, eaten by Cthulhu... Erm, I mean, taken up by the Lord.

A look around Google generated more heat than light on the topic. Sure, if she's not a "Dominionist Stalking Horse" she certainly looks like one...

And when you see Palin invoke God and the baby Jebus, as she did addressing her Church earlier this year, it's easy to suspect that she's a religious nut...

...But you know what? I don't buy that. I don't think Palin actually believes that "The Rapture" is imminent, or that Jebus wants world war three, or in teaching creationism or ID alongside evolution, or that rape vicims should be denied emergency contraception, or any of that bullshit.

I think Palin's cheer-leading for Christianity is political expediency, just as it is for Barak Obama and John McCain, and just as it was for George W. Bush.

Don't believe me? Then think what George W. Bush delivered for the evangelical community in the USA. Sweet F.A., that's what. That' also what a McCain/Palin presidency would deliver too.

Sure, if Palin actually does believe what her Church preaches about the End of Days and religion's proper role in American government, then everyone should be terrified. Luckily, I'm sure she doesn't.

Yes but think of what he did for them elsewhere. Think of the millions of little children that were saved in the third world when the US withdrew from UNFPA. Admittedly, they were brown children, and plainly God doesn't like brown ones half so much, but it's a start.

Also, isn't the Bush administration currently trying to push through legislation which expands the definition of abortion to include the morning after pill? It probably won't go through and they know it but it's a heck of a gesture.

You'll have to google for sources as I'm too lazy but I've read Marie Claire and I know these things to be true.

Can I have my kitten now please?

Good point well made, Anonymous. Perhaps I should have said "very little" instead of sweet F.A...

But for all the huffing and puffing of the religious right, they got very little out of Bush's eight years.

I didn't know where to send your kitten, so I gave it to a ragged homeless waif. Hopefully it will feed him and his fellow urchins for a day or two at least.

Best wishes

Regardless of whether she's waiting for Da Rupture, you can be certain that any appointee to the US Supreme Court will be likely to roll back Roe V Wade.

Again, regardless of religious preference, both Polar Barbie and Captain Geritol would be happy to wave through 'Academic Freedom' legislation. They clearly consider the evo/creo issue irrelevant, and just a bone they can throw to The Base at no cost to them.

Please send my kitten ASAP. The greyhound is getting whiny.

Hey Amadan... I really don't think McCain/Palin are insane/inane enough to actually push for either of those things - tho they will of course let the rubes push for all sorts of crazy nonsense. I hope I am right.

Your kitten is in the post. I can't remember if I made air holes, so I'm not sure how fresh it will be... (Joke. It's perfectly safe. I hope your greyhound enjoys playing with it's new friend).
